Diana Laverdure-Dunetz*, MS, holds a Master of Animal Science degree and is a multi- award-winning dog health writer, vegan canine nutritionist and passionate animal advocate. As a vegetarian from 2009 to 2017, Diana formulated meat-based diets for dogs because she believed the myth that dogs need meat to thrive. When she became vegan in 2017, Diana decided that she could no longer contribute to harming other animals for any reason, including feeding companion dogs. Determined to uncover the truth, Diana conducted intensive research on the topic, sending videographers around the world for a year to interview experts for her Plant-Powered Dog Food Summit. During this time she discovered that not only are plant-based diets for dogs better for all animals and the environment; they are also healthier for our canine companions! In 2018, Diana transformed her then meat-based canine nutrition practice into strictly promoting and creating plant-based diets, and for the past five years she has achieved amazing results for her plant-based canine clients. Through her website Plant-Powered Dog https://www.plantpowereddog.com and her consultation/formulation practice, Diana empowers dog lovers to raise thriving plant-based dogs. Diana’s new book, The Plant-Powered Dog: Unleash the healing powers of awhole-food plant-based diet to help your canine companion enjoy a healthier, longer life (Dogwise Publishing, 2023) https://amzn.to/3A0TDUu draws on the latest scientific research to demonstrate why a nutritionally-sound vegan diet may be the missing link to optimum health for modern companion dogs.
